Project Management

Professional and managerial skills are a key in project management. However, most organizations are looking for the Project Management Professional (PMP) label. This is to ensure that the knowledge base of Project Management is used. To acquire this certification there are two categories.

Category 1-
This level requires a BS degree, and 4500 hours of experience in 5 major areas of project management, which is documented on Experience Verification Forms. 3 years total PM experience must be within 6 years of application. 36 unique months of PM experience that don't overlap must be documented.

Category 2-
Only a High School degree is required. However, 7500 hours are required in the 5 major areas of project management. This must be within 8 years of application. 60 unique months not overlapping are required. Experience verification form are used.

Examination
A 200 question multiple choice examination is required. Generally given by Prometric and costing $555.00. If you are a member of the Project Management Institute, then your fee is only $405.00

The 5 majors areas include,

      1. Initiating Processes
      2. Planning Processes
      3. Executing Processes
      4. Controlling Processes
      5. Closing Processes

It is notable that in Utah where LTG, Inc. is based, there are only 64 PMP's as of this writing and 333 memeber of the Norther Utah Chapter for PMI.. Comparably small to other states such as Colorado which has 537 PMP's.
